Continuing on with our search for the best Netflix shows, we arrive at the letter C. With such a wide library of titles available, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, so I’m here to help narrow your options. Instead of being faced with hundreds of shows, I present you with some of the best choices in different genres. I’m excited for this one, as the winner for it is not only what I consider to be the best Netflix show beginning with C, but it’s one of my favourite shows ever. However, before we get to my number one pick, let’s take a look at some of the other great options.
The Contenders – Best Netflix Show Beginning With C
Okay, where to begin? If you like to watch critically acclaimed shows that have proven themselves with multiple awards, then perhaps you should give Call the Midwife a go. It’s a touching period drama that won the hearts of critics and viewers alike. Starring some popular names such as Miranda Hart and Judy Parfitt, it’s got great acting, and well-developed characters.
If you’re an anime person, then you can’t go wrong with Castlevania. Although it was technically made in America, it still follows the general themes of anime, and is aimed at adults. Based on the popular videogame series, the anime has intense action scenes and an emotional plot. The villain is a vampire with a vendetta against the town of Wallachia, and the story follows the heroes’ attempts to thwart him.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I love a good cooking show, and Chef’s Table is one of the better ones. Watch gourmet meals being made by professional chefs, and convince yourself that you could totally do that with the right equipment. There’s something so satisfying watching other people work hard to prepare something exquisite whilst you just sit there knowing full well you’re gonna pop a ready meal in the oven once dinner rolls around. The only thing that would make this show better is if you could actually taste the food through the screen.
Depending on your interests, other shows worth checking out are Cobra Kai, Chewing Gum, Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. However, there can only be one winner. So, my choice for the best show beginning with C is…
Community
There are plenty of really great comedy shows out there, but none of them come close to Community. I cannot express how much I love this show. I first discovered it when I was 19, and it was truly a staple of my university experience. Everything about it is genius, and it upsets me that more people aren’t aware of its brilliance.
It takes your typical setting of a college, and then runs away with it, creating the most ridiculous community college ever. Greendale is so weird and unrealistic, and that’s precisely what gives the show its charm. You don’t have to suspend your disbelief for the bizarre plotlines, because the whole show is run on that premise. You just immediately accept that this is not a normal college, and so the crazy stories make sense there. Some comedy shows base themselves in realistic settings, and then have the occasional outrageous storyline. That’s jarring and feels weird to watch as a viewer. But Community doesn’t have that problem, as you go into every episode expecting something weird to happen.
The characters are brilliant and lovable (except Shirley and Pierce, don’t come in here defending Shirley (I know nobody would try and defend Pierce)). Each one has their unique quirks, and when you put them together in one scene, it’s magical. Jim Rash especially does an outstanding job as the eccentric Dean Pelton. He brightens every scene, literally, with his over the top outfits and hilarious mannerisms.
Every episode of the show feels like an adventure, and with the exception of season 4, there’s no point where you feel like the quality has gone. Some of the best episodes are the paintball ones… You’ll know what I mean when you get there. Trust me, go watch Community!
