Moving forward through the alphabet, we’re now looking for the best Netflix show beginning with F. Trying to decide what to watch can be tricky when you’re faced with literally thousands of options. Luckily for you, I’m happy to do the hard work on your behalf. Whatever your taste in TV, there’s bound to be something on these lists that takes your fancy. So, without any further ado, let’s look at some of the best options for F.
If you’re into crime thrillers, Fargo could be the show for you. It’s an intense and gritty look at criminal cases in and around Fargo, North Dakota. It’s a fictional show, but framed like true crime. That gives it an exciting level of authenticity, whilst still giving them freedom to tell the stories that they want to. Each season introduces a new cast of characters, similar in that regard to American Horror Story. So you still get the familiar vibe of the show, but with new stories.
Fate: The Winx Saga is a fantasy coming of age story that is ideal if you enjoy a good teen show. Based on a childhood Nickolodeon classic, Winx Club, this takes those characters and puts a new spin on it. It’s a live-action show, but it’s still all about fairies, just with a slightly more mature take. It explores love, friendship, and loyalty, whilst also dealing with cool plots surrounding monsters. If you liked the original show, you might want to give this a try.
I’m sure many of you were probably expecting Friends to win this round, but it doesn’t, for a good reason. It’s just not funny anymore. Comedy is funny because you can relate to it, and Friends isn’t relatable in 2021. It relies on vices like sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. And it’s not that these things offend me, because I get that it was the social norm at the time. It’s simply that they don’t make me laugh because I can’t relate to them. Still, if you enjoyed it back in the day, you may like it for the nostalgia. However, the best Netflix show beginning with F is…
Floor is Lava
I’m actually kinda surprised at myself for picking this, but I stand by my decision. I love a good gameshow, and whilst it’s undeniably cheesy, Floor is Lava is definitely fun. Each episode, new teams compete in a course where the floor really is lava! (Okay, not really, but it certainly looks like lava). It’s a fun reference to the favourite game of kids everywhere, where we would throw pillows on the ground and jump between them and the sofa, pretending that the floor is lava. Except in this show, there’s no pretending, and if you touch the ‘lava’ then you’re out!
The courses are fun and varied, and each episode has a new theme. The props floating in the lava might be based around a museum, or a bedroom. There are always multiple possible routes, and teams have to decide which one will be the fastest and the easiest. It’s a race against time, but they can’t be too reckless as one wrong move could end their run. Watching people fall and slip into the fake lava will never not be amusing, and as gameshows go, this is a really active and involved one. There’s a little bit of talking at the start to introduce each set of contestants, but it’s mostly just watching them do the course.
The players often have strong personalities, and you’ll find yourself rooting for one particular team. Sometimes there are also teams you hate, and there’s a certain vindication when you get to watch them fail. Floor is Lava is great if you don’t want to commit to watching a series. Each episode stands alone, so you can just watch it for half an hour while you eat your dinner. It’s a fantastic casual show to just enjoy in the moment.
I feel like this letter was quite limited in choice. I’ll be doing a separate article for shows starting with ‘The’, so a fair few great titles such as The Final Table ended up being ruled out. However, I think Floor is Lava is a solid pick for the best Netflix show beginning with F.
