Everhood 2 Soul Types

Everhood’s RPG mechanics are lovely nonsense. Between its incompetent comic smith and a questionnaire about Fortnite, the Everhood 2 Soul Types offer some hilarious gameplay systems. And yet, despite their absurd introductions, these Soul Types’ playstyles only reveal themselves hours in, forcing us to restart our playthrough or meekly seek out the other weapons if we dislike our current build.

Fortunately, this Everhood 2 Soul Types guide covers getting each Soul type (blue, red, or green) from the questionnaire, the benefits of each weapon class, and how to find the other weapons elsewhere in the game. Be it besting the boatman’s wave defense with disabled health regeneration or blasting past the repetitive mobs, our Soul Type is crucial for tackling some of the later elements of the game. Now, let’s get to answering about god, existence, and Fortnite!

Souls Types

Overall, Everhood 2 boasts three different soul types, each with unique weapons and slight cosmetic differences for our run. While we can access the other Soul Type weapons and a 4th Ragnarok axe, investing soul gems in these detracts from benefits we could have received from upgrading our primary like increased damage, range, and self-healing.

So, whether you want to know your soul color’s strengths and weaknesses or restart for a different body, the following Soul types and weapons are as follows:

Blue Soul Type – Short-Range Life Steal.

Everhood 2 Soul Types we are giving ourselves a peace sign as a blue light spirit with cat ears! Meow!
This blue soul yearns for chicanery!

To start, the Blue Soul Type offers the Blades of Mercy, a set of twin blades with potent life-steal attacks and excellent short-range response. While their range is somewhat limited, these blades’ health regen is crucial for areas where it’s disabled (i.e. Death Mountain and Boatman wave defense).

Furthermore, this Soul Type starts us off at the strange area of the Neon City Forest that offers a longer, stranger introduction to the game with a hilarious, alcohol-laden battle with Rasputin. Overall, I recommend the Blue Soul type for first-time players who want an easier experience with Everhood 2‘s combat.

Green Soul Type – Increased Range and Damage

Beyond the Blades of Mercy, the Green Soul Type gives us the Spear of Destiny, a longer-range instrument with severely reduced health regeneration. Though I don’t recommend the difficulty of the Green Soul Type for your first playthrough, it offers (arguably) the best narrative introduction to the game with saving Riley and the enslaved aliens.

Given Riley’s importance to Everhood’s twisted story, I adored having this first innocent interaction with our froggy companion, with his initial lines foreshadowing the amphibian’s dark ends. If you don’t mind a slightly more challenging time battling rocks, mimics, and the boatman’s wave defense, I advise the green Everhood 2 soul type for the most fulfilling narrative introduction to our froggy friend.

Red Soul Type – Maximum Damage

We are staring at ourselves as a red light spirit in a bright white space room.
A couch would really bring the place together.

Finally, the Red Soul Type offers the highest damage-dealing weapon with reduced self-healing and balanced range. Though I adored the Katana for making quick work of Everhood 2‘s repetitive Mob enemies, it left me disadvantaged during the disabled health regen fights during the boatman’s wave defense.

Still, this weapon only shows its strength if we’re capable of higher combos, so consider this more of a compromise for more satisfying combat and challenge. Also, the red soul type starts us at the Vegetales-meets-Mad Max for one of the silliest introductions to the game, so it’s great for a good giggle.

Questionnaire

If a particular one of the Everhood 2 Soul Types above caught your eye, answering the questionnaire below will give you your desired soul color. Specifically, Everhood 2 asks 4-20 intense personal questions regarding identity, religion, and Fortnite (I’m not kidding). Though none of these questions significantly change the playthrough, they’re a good laugh and test your patience.

Therefore, if you want a specific soul weapon or rockin’ blue bod, answer the questions precisely below:

    1. Hard

Finding the Soul Weapons In-Game

If we don’t want to start an entirely new playthrough or want to switch weapons mid-combat, defeating three challenging bosses rewards us with these soul-color weapons. There is also a fourth weapon, the Axe of Ragnarok, which we can acquire by completing the alien’s quest in the year 5000.

However, be warned that while the number of soul gems for upgrading weapons is limited, we can obtain more by battling in Double D’s arena to upgrade these weapons.

Blades of Mercy – Machine God

Following our victory against the dragon, we can return to our aliens in the year 3000 to find our little buddies have created a megalomaniacal machine god. While we can’t save our small friends from the apocalypse, we can battle the machine in a bullet hell fight for the Blades of Mercy Blue Soul Weapon. Take care that this fight, resembling the fight with an Orange Mage in Everhood 1, is incredibly challenging, and we only have one attempt to get the weapon per run.

Also, the end of this fight contains spoilers, or at the least foreshadowing for the end of the game, so consider avoiding it if you want to be completely surprised. Still, if you’re intent on the Blades of Mercy, I recommend coming in at level 7-10, equipping the duality talisman that offers two death defiance lives, or even resorting to lowering the difficulty.

Spear of Destiny – Lime Light Being

We have broken a bewildered Lime Light spirit has been broken out of yellow.
Nothing like giving our protagonist from the first game a proper thrashing.

After re-entering the area from Everhood 1 and defeating Yellow (we must have fought them in the Castle Maze), we can find the Lime Light Being in the Carnival Door’s movie theatre. If we keep talking to Lime, they will start a challenging fight that rewards us with the Green Soul Spear of Destiny weapon.

This fight, largely a throwback to the Hyper Light Being from Everhood 1, is incredibly challenging and has a few attacks that will move you to the center of the board. As with the machine god, I highly recommend the duality talisman for two extra lives. Also it has a challenging second stage, so consider putting as much damage as possible into the first part of the fight.

Red Katana – Secret Cosmic Smith

Everhood 2 Soul Types we are passing through the a set of wires in the secret lab to access a puzzle guarding the Red Soul Katana.
Look for this set of wires you can walk through in the secret lab.

If the bosses above were too challenging, we can obtain the Red Katana in a joke interaction fairly early on. Specifically, after dying to the dragon enough times, we’ll be transported to a purple lab containing ruined experiments, lore, and the green slime lady Lucy!

Towards the right-hand middle of the room, we’ll find a mesh of wires leading to a simple puzzle (just make the pieces go clockwise) and a blacksmith offering to craft us three weapons. Unfortunately, the blacksmith only crafts the Katanta and will kick us out if we insist upon the superior scimitar or saber. Though we will have to battle several ghosts upon leaving, it’s well worth it for a weapon we can get so early on.

Axe of Ragnarok – High Break, Damage, and Range

Here we can obtain the ragnarok axe from the our alien friends and a robot to have our revenge on the evil God machine.
Our friends need a better coping mechanism besides turning into weapons.

Finally, we can obtain the Axe of Ragnarok at the alien’s quest line’s end without suffering through a tough fight. To start, in the year 5000, we’ll find a locked door with a blue key in the hangout room. After interacting with the door, we get a code to Sam’s basement (111 568) with the key in a drawer in the left room.

Spending the key on the door unlocks a final interaction with surviving aliens that have fastened themselves into an Axe of Ragnarok to take revenge on the God Machine. Though the location of the God Machine is unknown, we can take out their anger on some toasters who don’t deserve it.

Final Thoughts

All in all, I imagine most people’s agreeability will earn them the Blue Soul Type for their first playthrough, and that’s for the best. Though I’d argue it offers the weakest, most confusing introduction to Everhood 2‘s narrative, its increased self-healing is a must for the challenging wave defense.

Personally, I wish the Devs had taken the time to communicate the strengths and weaknesses of each of the Everhood 2 Soul Types rather than leaving it to nonsensical questions. Green Soul Players struggling with the boatman’s wave defense will either have to grind soul gems in the Colosseum or consider starting an entirely new playthrough for viable self-healing. Meanwhile, those seeking challenge (like me!) would feel dissatisfied knowing their interest in the game doomed them to an easier Blue Soul Type playthrough.

Still I can’t fault the Everhood 2 devs for staying true to their nonsense and whimsy, I just hope you pick your answers well, lest your personal beliefs about Fortnite damn thee to a green demise!

FAQs

What is the Best Everhood 2 Soul Type?

Answer: The Blue Soul type’s weapon’s health regeneration makes it a godsend in the few battles with disabled regen; notably, the Boatman and Death Island make it the most reliable weapon in the game. However, those seeking greater damage should seek out the Red Soul type’s Katana.

Can I Change My Soul Type?

No, you cannot easily change your soul type, but you can get the weapons of the other soul types through a few challenging boss encounters, notably the Machine God, Lime Light Spirit, and a puzzle in the lab. Be warned that while you can change weapons mid-combat, spending soul gems on other weapons can weaken your primary weapon during later encounters.

What Does My Soul Type Affect?

Besides your starting weapon and initial difficulty, your Soul Type is primarily cosmetic and only affects a few skins of creatures throughout your playthrough. For example, Blue Soul will have red aliens, Red Soul start battling violent veggies, and Green Souls suffer unforgiving wave defense.
