Genshin Impact: Natlan Region Guide

The much anticipated Genshin Impact 5.0 update has arrived! With this comes a brand new area for all the travelers of Teyvat to explore. Natlan. Also known as the Pyro Region, or, the Nation of Dragons. I have to say, this update has a lot to offer so far (and I’ve currently played less than two hours of 5.0). To help out my fellow travelers I’ve put together this Genshin Impact Natlan Region Guide.

This is going to be the quick and dirty of the 5.0 update. I’m going to show you the unlocked Natlan region, what world quests are readily available in Natlan, and more. You’ll be able to find all the locations in Natlan, as well as the new characters in the Natlan area in Genshin Impact.

Unlocking Natlan: Your Guide to Map Exploration and Waypoint Locations

Genshin’s Natlan region can be found just west of the Desert of Hadramaveth.

Smaller than I thought it would be.

If there is one thing you take away from this guide, it should be the knowledge that the area of Natlan has a waypoint already unlocked. I did not know that going into the 5.0 update (I blame it on excitement) so I spent a solid five minutes running across the desert.

Why, oh why?

As I said above, a waypoint is already unlocked in Natlan. The only catch is that you do have to complete ‘Mondstadt’s Prologue: Act 3 Quest, Song of the Dragon and Freedom’ first. If you haven’t, the waypoint won’t be unlocked and you’ll also have to run across the desert.

There are four Statue of the Seven that you need to find to unlock the entire Natlan area map. Keep reading for a brief overview of all four areas in the Natlan region.

Natlan Region Guide: Tequemecan Valley

Once you’ve arrived in Natlan the closest Statue of the Seven will unlock Tequemecan Valley. This is also where you need to go to start the ‘Traces of Artistry’ event, which I will talk about more below. However, before you visit the “Children of Echos”, and that first statue, you’ll want to investigate something Paimon points out. You’ll get an achievement, trigger a quest, and potentially meet a new lil’ friend.

What could it be?

Once done you’ll want to make your way up to the Statue of the Seven. The visuals as you make your way up to the statue are stunning so I’d recommend taking your time. The path takes you up what looks to be a canyon of some sort. There are a lot of stairs, and some bridges to cross to make it to the top. To be honest, it’s not difficult to find (especially if you enable the navigation), simply follow the path and you’ll find your way.

Once there, interact with the statue to unlock the Tequemecan Valley.

Tequemecan Valley: Unlocked

As you can see from the map (pictured above) there is a World Quest located in Tequemecan Valley. There are also three locations in Tequemecan Valley you’ll need to visit as part of the Traces of Artistry Event.

  • Flow’s True Form: Silhouette’s Intrinsic Nature
  • Flow’s True Form: Flow of Lines
  • Harvestable: Saurian Claw Succulent

I’ll include more information, including locations, in an upcoming ‘Traces of Artistry’ guide.

Natlan Region Guide: Basin of Unnumbered Flames

From Tequemecan Valley I continued to the next Statue of the Seven. The Natlan region isn’t huge, so it didn’t take me too long to get there. I did stop and gather resources along the way, as I would recommend you do as well. From my limited time playing, it does look like there are some area-specific resources so grabbing them as you go could be helpful in the long run.

Interact with the statue and the Basin of Unnumbered Flames will be unlocked

For me, the most exciting part of this area is the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. There’s more going on in the stadium than I originally thought there would be. Food, Forging, Frivolity. It’s also a lot easier to navigate than the Court of Fontaine (in my opinion). Since there is so much localized in one area I’ve decided to create a separate guide solely for the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. So stay tuned for that.

Within the Basin of Unnumbered Flames there is one location that you’ll have to visit for part of the Traces of Artistry Event

  • Punch Flow: Phase 1

More information, including locations, will be in an upcoming Traces of Artistry Guide.

Natlan Region Guide: Coatepec Mountain

Next up in this Genshin Natlan Region Guide, we have the third Statue of the Seven. The one that will unlock the Coatepec Mountain.

And there we have it, Coatepec Mountain.

I didn’t spend that much time in the Coatepec Mountain but there isn’t anything in this area for the ‘Traces of Artistry’ event or the beginnings of a World Quest. That said, not all parts of the current event have been released yet. There is a chance that as more of the event becomes available to play over the next few days, we’ll see event-specific locations pop up on the map. If that does happen, I’ll update this guide with all the relevant information.

Natlan Region Guide: Toyac Springs

Last, but certainly not least, we have the fourth Statue of the Seven of the Natlan region. As you can tell in the image below, unlocking all areas of Natlan will get you an achievement.

There we have it travelers, all of the Natlan region is unlocked.

While I find all of Natlan amazing, Toyac Springs is probably my favorite. I’m a fan of water and ocean biomes so I can not wait to explore Toyac Springs more in depth. Seeing as there is a World Quest located within Toyac Springs I’m sure I’ll get the chance to travel throughout the area very soon.

Natlan’s First World Quests Overview: Uncover Every Adventure

There are at least three World Quests in the Natlan region that you can begin right away. I’ll give a quick breakdown of each of them.

Between Pledge and Forgettance

Interacting with the mirage Paimon points out when you first enter Natlan will trigger the ‘Between Pledge and Forgettance’ World Quest. Here you’ll be able to complete the first part of the chain, ‘Lost in the Woods’.

Between Pledge and Forgettance – Lost in the Woods

This portion of ‘Between Pledge and Forgettance’ is extremely straightforward and, in my opinion, very short for a Genshin quest. At the time of writing this article, I haven’t yet completed this World Quest. I will update you with more information as I continue through the quest.

Shadows of the Mountains

I unfortunately have not yet started this quest (other than unlocking it), but I will update you all as I play through it. If you want to check it out yourself and get started you can find Titu in Tequemecan Valley. Check out the image below for the exact location.

While this location is considered to be underground it is not difficult to find. All I did was toggle on the navigation and follow that to the spot on the map. Titu was easy to spot, and after some chatting the quest began.

Tale of Dreams Plucked From Fire

Once again I have not yet started this quest (other than unlocking it), but I will again update you all as I continue with this quest. Personally, this quest sounds interesting so there is a good chance I’ll be starting with this one. Check out the image below for the exact location.

This one is what I would consider to actually be located underground. That said, with the navigation enabled for the location it wasn’t too hard to find. Just look for holes in the floor and float down until you hit the bottom.

Traces of Artistry Event: Overview

This event is only around for a short time, so be sure to check it out while you can. It’s a creative way for you to be able to explore the Natlan region. There are two different parts of this event, ‘Search for Inspiration’ and ‘Painted Presents’.

In order to start claiming rewards and participating in specific parts of this event you will need to go to Tequemecan Valley. Good news, you’ve already passed by this location if you’ve found the Statue of the Seven. When you first enter “Children of Echos” there will be a wooden bridge that you have to cross.

Genshin Impact: Natlan Region Guide

On the other side of the bridge, there’s a stage with some graffiti art that is truly hard to miss

Genshin Natlan Region Guide

Once you’ve gotten here and can see the stage go to the left, you’re looking for a woman with short purple hair and a spray can on her hip.

Talking with her will activate a cut-scene, not Genshin’s longest cut-scene, but lengthy nonetheless. You’ll learn about the culture of Natlan (to a degree) and what they consider to be art. She will also give you a camera that you’ll need to complete a couple of parts of the event.

Search for Inspiration

There will be tasks to complete under the three different tribes of Natlan.

Children of Echoes

Currently, just those under Child of Echoes are unlocked, the other two will be released in the upcoming days. I will update this article tomorrow and again this weekend as the other sections are unlocked. I will also be putting together a separate guide for all the tasks required to fully complete this event in the coming days.

Painted Presents

A new 4-star weapon called ‘Ash-Graven Drinking Horn’ is up for grabs in the Natlan region. If you can collect enough Colorful Contemplations. Which, you will already be collecting as you finish the challenges in ‘Search for Inspiration’.

Do I currently have any idea what I’ll be doing with this weapon? No. Am I still going to do everything I can to get it simply because it looks cool? Yes.

Prerequisite Quests for Traces of Artistry

While there are recommended quests for Travelers to complete before starting ‘Traces of Artistry’, it will not impact the gameplay or rewards if you haven’t. I’m slightly behind on my Archon Quests (because I love a good side quest) so I’m really happy that this won’t impact my ability to complete the current event. However, as stated in the image below if you want the best experience you should finish the recommended quests first.

Conclusion

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, I’ve currently played less than two hours of the new update. That being said, Natlan is a vibrant new area with a ton to see and do. I can’t wait to play more.

Stay tuned for more detailed Genshin Impact Natlan region guides, as well as an upcoming series where we take on the Tastes of Teyvat!
