How to Save Outfits in Dress to Impress (DTI) on Roblox

The Halloween update for Dress to Impress (DTI) on Roblox dropped an exciting new feature: the ability to save outfits in Dress to Impress! While the update has been generating a lot of buzz, there’s some confusion in the community about how the save function works. Saved outfits can only be used in Freeplay Servers. So, for now, you can’t use them in the themed rounds on regular servers. Let’s walk through how to use this new feature together.

Saving an outfit in DTI is a straightforward process, though it does require you to enter a dressing room. Here’s the full step-by-step guide to save your outfit:

  1. Put on the pieces you want to save. Select your favorite items—clothing, accessories, makeup, hairstyles — by putting them on your avatar as you usually would.
  2. Find a dressing room. Dressing rooms in DTI are located across from the tanning booths. These dressing rooms are set up specifically for you to try on special clothing (from codes, events, etc.) and save your outfits.
  3. Look for the wardrobe icon. Inside the dressing room, on the left side of the item selection area, there will be a button with a brown closet icon. Click this button, and it will open up your personal wardrobe menu.
  4. Save your outfit. In the wardrobe menu, you’ll see a pink plus sign. Click on it, and the outfit you’re currently wearing will be saved in your wardrobe.

Once saved, the wardrobe will remember every piece of the outfit you’re wearing. This includes hairstyles, skin tone, makeup, and even custom makeup if you’ve unlocked it.

I saved this outfit under “Zinnia”, who is one of the characters I play at LARP. I know that any of my friends reading this will get a kick out of seeing it! We’ve all agreed that Zinnia is the most like I am as a person, and purple is a significant colour for her and her herd. I wanted this design to reflect both of us (I was feeling sentimental, it’s the long dark…).

Where You Can Use Saved Outfits in Dress to Impress

As I mentioned in the introduction, you can only access your saved outfits in Freeplay Servers. Freeplay Servers let you dress up and try on outfits without the time pressure of regular servers. They’re a bit of a sandbox where you can style your character freely. However, there’s no runway presentation or round results. Some players might find this disappointing if they’re looking to show off their creations.

Since the save feature doesn’t work in regular servers, you can’t load saved outfits during the actual themed rounds. I find this restriction a bit frustrating. Considering some themes can be challenging, saved outfits would be a helpful way to dress up without rushing around. I’m assuming we’ll eventually be able to use them normally because I can’t see why the feature exists otherwise.

How to Access and Wear Saved Outfits in Freeplay Servers

To get to a Freeplay Server, you just need to click the “Server” button at the top left of your screen when you load in to Dress to Impress. Join Freeplay Mode, and the game will transport you to a Freeplay Server.

In Freeplay Servers, accessing your saved outfits is simple:

  1. Head to a dressing room. As in regular servers, find a dressing room to access your wardrobe.
  2. Click on the saved outfits icon. Inside the dressing room, look for the same brown closet icon you used to save your outfit.
  3. Select an outfit to wear. Once the saved outfits menu opens, click on the look you want. Your avatar will be dressed in your chosen outfit instantly.

When you save outfits on Dress to Impress, you gain a quick way to swap outfits in Freeplay Servers. However, the feature’s limitations make it feel a bit underwhelming. Since there’s no themed round or audience in Freeplay Servers, it can feel a little “dress-up without purpose” compared to the fun, competitive atmosphere in regular servers.

If you’re looking for other games where you can dress up, I’d absolutely suggest Spirit City: Lofi Sessions. It had a Halloween update and the new clothes are very autumnal! There’s no competing, it’s just a cosy productivity game.
