Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is a cute indie game recently released on the Nintendo Switch. I’ve been looking forward to playing this game since I first saw the trailer. Playing as the main protagonist, Mika, you traverse the island of Mount Gaun on a broomstick, delivering packages to various island inhabitants. If you’re a collector of collectables like I am, keep reading because this guide will help you discover all Napopo locations in Mika and the Witch’s Mountain.
As I was exploring the island, I came across small statues. These statues are called Napopo.
Now, while the Napopo don’t impact the main storyline in any way, you can collect them, and then trade them in for customizations for Mika. This spoke to the Loot Gremlin in me, so I’ve made it my goal to find all 100 Napopo locations.
I’ve split all 100 Napopo locations in Mika and the Witch’s Mountain into the different regions of Mount Gaun below.
Jump to...
All 100 Napopo Locations
The 100 Napopo locations are spread out over the different areas of Mount Gaun. The map shows you how many Napopo are located within each unlocked region. All you have to do is toggle the ‘Show landmarks’ on the map to on, and you’ve got your breakdown.
I didn’t realize this right away, but two regions of the map have the same name. For this guide, I’ll refer to the Windy Meadows at the bottom of the map as Windy Meadows South, and the one on the right side as Windy Meadows East. Even with the regions named, I’m not 100% sure exactly where one ends and another begins.
As you can tell from the above image, I have not currently unlocked all regions of Mount Gaun. Consequently, I have not yet found all Napopo locations in Mika and the Witch’s Mountain. So, I will update this guide as I unlock more regions and discover more Napopo!
Napopo Locations in Orilla Town
Orilla Town is the first region you get to explore as part of the main storyline. Find the locations for all 10 Napopo in Orilla Town below.
Napopo #1
This one is a bit hidden, but also easy to access. When you first enter Orilla Town don’t go up the main steps, instead go to the right. There you will see a house and if you walk over to the potted plants, you’ll find a Napopo hiding among them.
Napopo #2
For this Napopo you will have to go up the main steps and through the town square. Go down the steps leading towards the docks and then continue straight. You should see the Napopo inside the tree pot on your left.
Napopo #3
If you keep going straight after finding Napapo #2 you’ll see a little boat suspended between what looks like two wooden walls. The Napopo is on top of the wall on the left on the end farthest from the town. I used the broom to grab this statue because I also wanted to snag a photo for you guys, but you can probably access it by jumping.
Napopo #4
From the location of Napopo #3, you want to continue forward and out to sea. Sailing near the shore is a boat, and perched on the edge, is the next Napopo. You can vaguely make out the statue in the previous image.
Napopo #5
This statue can be found on the beach just north of the town. You can get to this location directly from the Napopo #4. All you have to do is turn around and go back the way you came, just slightly to the left as you do. If you’re like me and require landmarks, think ice cream stand. Under the beach umbrella closest to said ice cream stand, you’ll find your next statue.
Napopo #6 and #7
The next two statues are so close together that I’ve included them both in this section. If you decide to pick up these two Napopo straight from Napopo #5 you’ll have to head up the stairs towards the train station. Once at the train station, you can easily access the top of an archway leading out of Orilla Town, heading towards the Old Windmill. Jump up on the wall, then jump on top of the archway, you’ll find a Napopo on either end.
Napopo #8
Moving on directly from picking up statues #6 and #7, it is quite easy to get to the next statue. While it is not close enough to the others to be included in the same picture, it is close by. This statue is on top of the roof of the train tunnel, the tunnel closest to the town square. I grabbed this one by first flying over the delivery office and using that roof as leverage to hop up onto the top of the tunnel.
Napopo #9
I’d suggest snatching up this statue straight after picking up #8 since you’ll require some height. You guessed it, this statue is on top of one of the houses. From the top of the train tunnel turn so you’re looking out over the delivery office. You’ll see two houses in front of you on the other side of the town square, the Napopo is on top of the one to the left.
You can also access this statue by utilizing the vertical wind current by the lighthouse. On your broom, ride the current up then fly towards the town square. You’ll see the Napopo on the roof of the first house closest to the wind current.
Napopo #10
The final Napopo in Orilla Town is located at the smaller dock on the left of the town square (the one directly in front of O’Vel’s place). Head down the dock and on top of some wooden crates, you’ll find the last Napopo of Orilla Town.
Check out the image below if you want to see the statue locations indicated on the map.
Napopo Locations in Whispering Beach
Whispering Beach is next to Orilla Town, running along the left edge of Mount Gaun. It is also the area where I was able to find all Napopo the quickest. Since this region is a beach, the statues aren’t super difficult to spot. You’ll be able to find most of them just by walking along the beach.
Find all 9 Whispering Beach Napopo locations below.
Napopo #1
At the northernmost point of the beach (at the base of the lighthouse), you’ll find the first Napopo for this region.
Napopo #2
Going from the base of the lighthouse (Napopo #1 location) start walking along the beach. You don’t have to go far before you’ll find what you’re looking for. Look under the wooden ramp leading from in front of Allegra’s place down to the beach.
Napopo #3
Now, you want to continue your way down the beach. As you can tell from the map of this region, there are various small hills along the beach. The first hill you come across unfortunately has nothing for you. However the second does have a statue. This hill has four levels to it, the Napopo is on the third level. You can easily hop up to grab the statue, no need to use the broomstick if you don’t want to.
Napopo #4
This little guy can be found on the other side of the hill that had the third Napopo. All you have to do is jump off the hill in the direction you were heading (south or down towards the bottom of the map) and sneak around to the left.
Napopo #5
Once you’ve grabbed Napopo #4, keep heading down the beach. You want to walk past the next hill and the small wooden rowboat. Next to the following hill, you’ll see a grouping of five rocks… oh, wait. Make that four rocks and a Napopo statue.
Napopo #6
Grabbing this statue is a little more tricky. You will need to use the broomstick for this one. Continue down the beach until you come up to yet another hill. This hill is quite tall and has two different levels to it. You should also see a vertical wind current on the left-hand side of this hill. Use the wind current to fly upwards until you’re high enough to access the top level of this hill. Then all you have to do is stick the landing and grab the statue.
Napopo #7
Once you’ve grabbed Napopo #6, this one is easy to get to. All you have to do is hop off the hill (or fly down if you don’t want to turn into a Mika pancake). As long as you hop off in the correct direction, you’ll come face-to-face with this statue as soon as you land.
Napopo #8
This statue isn’t on the beach but on the strip of green hillside between Whispering Beach and the Old Windmill regions. As I mentioned above, it is a little hard to see where one region ends and another begins.
To grab this statue you’ll have to use the broomstick once again and ride the same vertical wind current you used to get to Napopo #6. This time, however, you want to use it to lift you onto the hillside. I found that the wind current didn’t give you quite enough height so you have to time your jump and angle yourself to get up over the ledge. Right near the southernmost end of the hillside, you’ll see the Napopo
Napopo #9
Once again, I’d suggest grabbing this statue right after picking up Napopo #8. This statue is located on the same hillside as #8, just back closer to Orilla Town. Walk or fly (but be mindful of the wind currents) along the hillside back towards town. There will be a large rock pile (just above where Allegra’s place is if you need a more specific landmark like I do), and there you will find the last Napopo of Whispering Beach.
Check out the image below if you want to see the statue locations indicated on the map.
Napopo Locations in Old Windmill
While I have found all Napopo locations within this region, it’s important to note that you need to wait until day three in the game before you can access all statues.
The Old Windmill region is southeast of Orilla Town. Just look for the giant (rundown) windmill. The land surrounding the windmill is also rundown, it looks like a barren wasteland.
Find all 8 Old Windmill Napopo locations below.
Napopo #1
This one is one of the easiest Napopo to access in the Old Windmill region. Just behind the Old Windmill is some wooden scaffolding. Walk (or fly) up to the second level on the scaffolding and you’ll find the first Napopo of this region.
Napopo #2
If you head for this statue from Napopo #1 in this region it’s in the direction behind Mika in the picture above. On the eastern side of this region, there is a large pipe coming out of the mountain and going into the ground below. Where the pipe enters the ground is where you will find this Napopo.
Napopo #3
For the next Napopo statue, we are going to head towards the western side of the Old Windmill region. On the west side of the scaffolding mentioned above, you’ll see a vertical wind current. You’ll want to use this wind current to get enough height to make it onto the mountain ledge nearby (you should be able to see a dead tree and a large rock). From there, walk around the large rock and you’ll find the statue on the other side.
Napopo #4
This statue is located on the southernmost point of the western half of the Old Windmill region. You want to go past Vanny’s lab, past the two hills, until you arrive at a small hill right at the southern edge of the region. On top of this hill, you will find the statue. As you can tell from the image below, you should be able to see the Lower Ruins from the correct location.
Napopo #5
If you’re following straight from Napopo #4, we are now going to head back in the direction we came. Heading north you will want to stop at the hill on your left (the small brown hill closest to Vanny’s lab). Technically, you do not need to wait until day three in the game to get to this location, but it would be easier since you can use the boost function to get up on top of the hill rather than wind currents. If you don’t have the upgraded broom yet, you will have to utilize the different wind currents around the area to get the height needed to access the top of this hill.
Napopo #6
This sneaky little guy is sitting on top of Vanny’s lab.
This Napopo I had to wait until day three in the game before I could reach its location. I could see it before then but as hard as I tried I wasn’t able to reach it without the boost feature that you get on day three. However, once I got better with the controls I was able to get to the top of Vanny’s lab without using the boost function.
If you want to try and grab this Napopo without the broom boost function, you’ll have to go back to the wooden scaffolding (right behind the Old Windmill), go all the way to the top and then fly off with the broomstick towards the lab. In this method, you will have to use a few well-timed jumps on the broom, but it is possible.
Napopo #7
Personally, it would be easiest to head from the location of Napopo #6 directly to this statue’s location, as you’ll already have the height needed. That said, as you’ll see in the image below I was able to grab this statue before getting the broom with the boost upgrade. In the Old Windmill region, there is a stone platform on top of a brown hill, this stone platform is on fire. North/North-East of this stone platform is a vertical wind current. Use this wind current, riding it up to its maximum point, and then fly north towards Orilla Town. You should be able to spot the statue on top of the hydro line tower.
Napopo #8
This Napopo location is the most obvious spot in the region, it is also the one spot that you cannot reach before day three of the game. You will need the upgraded broom boost function to reach this statue. The last Napopo stature can be found on the very top of the Old Windmill itself. To get this statue you will once again need to climb up to the top of the wooden scaffolding behind the windmill, ride the vertical wind current (slightly to the east) to get the extra height then fly towards the Old Windmill. You’ll have to use the boost feature on the new broom to get that little extra height to make it onto the roof.
Check out the image below if you prefer to see the statue locations indicated on the map.
Napopo Locations in Lower Ruins
The Lower Ruins region is another area where you must wait until at least day three to access all Napopo statues.
You will find this region as you continue south on the map. You’ll know you’ve reached the correct location when you see several broken pillars and platforms near multiple waterfalls.
Find all 11 Lower Ruins Napopo locations below.
Napopo #1
There’s a broken platform when you first arrive at the Lower Ruins. If you jump (or fly) off of it and to the left you’ll land on the sand below. Sitting on top of a toppled-over pillar you’ll find the first Napopo of the Lower Ruins.
Napopo #2
I recommend grabbing this statue after Napopo #1 of the Lower Ruins. This statue is nearby and on roughly the same level. Right in front of the large waterfall, two columns are holding up a broken platform. At the base of the northernmost column, you’ll find your statue.
Napopo #3 and #4
These statues can be found on the same level as Napopo #1 and #2. The Lower Ruins region has an old platform southwest of the large waterfall you would have seen when you located Napopo #2. At the base of the platform on the west side, you can see two Napopo statues.
Napopo #5
As you can tell from the map, multiple rocks are sticking up out of the water on the island’s southwestern side. You’ll find more than one statue hiding out on these rocks. For this specific Napopo statue, you’ll want to fly over to the one three-tiered-looking stone. It’s the one just south of the rock covered in cardboard boxes. This statue might be a little hard to spot at first as it is tucked into the side of the rock.
Napopo #6
The Lower Ruins have the remnants of a stone bridge, part on the northern side of the area and the other part on the southern side. To find this statue you’ll have to get to the south side of what is left of the mentioned stone bridge. There is a vertical wind current just above the water, you can ride this wind current up and onto the ledge of the bridge ruins. Once there you can find this statue on top of what is left of the bridge railing.
Napopo #7
The location of this statue can be seen in the picture above (Napopo #6). If you keep following the path upward you’ll eventually come across a closed door leading into the side of the mountain. Open the door, and you’ll find the next statue hiding inside.
Napopo #8
The next statue can be found outside the small alcove where statue #7 is located. There’s a small dirt platform in the water just north of the alcove entrance.
Napopo #9
This statue is arguably one of the most difficult ones to get to (in my opinion). The Lower Ruins have two giant stone pillars on either side of the main waterfall. Near the top of each pillar is a large circular cut-out. Sitting inside this cutout on the pillar of the north side of the main waterfall, you’ll find the next statue. You will have to wait until day three in the game to reach this spot as you will need the broom boost function.
Napopo #10
I’ve mentioned this a few times throughout this guide, but the regions of Mount Gaun are not clearly defined. That said, I believe the next two statues are technically within the Lower Ruins.
You don’t have to wait until day three in the game to get here, but having the broom boost function will make it easier. To get this statue you’ll need first to activate, and then use, the main wind turbine in the Lower Ruins. It will shoot you up to the top of the large waterfall. Once you’re up there you can use the rocks to fly up onto the cliff on the waterfall’s north side. You should be able to see some more ruins here. Found at the base of one of the ruins archways is Napopo number 10.
Napopo #11
This last statue is located just east of Napopo #10. You can find this statue resting on a rock pile on the ledge below the one statue #10 is on. You can even see the ruins that Napopo #10 is resting on from this location, as seen in the picture below.
Check out the image below if you prefer to see the statue locations indicated on the map
Napopo Locations in Windy Meadows (South)
As I mentioned earlier in this article there are seemingly two areas in Mika and the Witch’s Mountain that share the same name ‘Windy Meadows’. Here I will be referring to the region located at the southern part of the Mount Gaun map.
Find all 7 Windy Meadows (South) Napopo locations below.
Napopo #1
This statue is located on a small rock formation just behind Kaila’s tent. Part of the main storyline has you deliver a package to Kaila, I’d suggest grabbing this statue once you’ve dropped off the package.
Napopo #2
I’d suggest picking up this statue right after grabbing Napopo #1 for this region, as it is very close by. If you hop off the platform where Kaila’s tent is (heading east) and go down towards the water you’ll find the next statue at the base of the cliff. The statue is tucked back in the corner, so it might be a little hard to see at first.
Napopo #3
If you travel north-east from Kaila’s home you will come across another small hill. This hill will have a lone tree growing on it, and at the base of the tree, you will find the next Napopo.
Napopo #4
From Napopo #3 you want to head south-east on the map. There is a hill with two different levelled platforms (slightly farther east than the three-tiered hill you can see in the picture above). A rock formation is at the base of this hill, on the western side. You’ll find the next statue on top of said formation.
Napopo #5
This Napopo isn’t too difficult to spot. As it’s just sitting out in the open, it’s not hidden by any hills, rocks or ruins. On the eastern side of the Windy Meadows (South), there is what looks to be some kind of dirt road, or path. It’s a relatively straight line, with one short offshoot on the northern side. At the start of this offshoot, you’ll find a statue.
Napopo #6
This next statue can be reached before day three of the game (as you can see from the picture below). However, I will say, it was much easier to get to this location once I had the broom boost function.
As you can see in the picture above, there is a vertical wind current just north of Napopo #5. You can ride this wind current to get the height needed to get up on the ledge north of you. From there continue traveling east. You will quickly come to a waterfall (on the north side) and a series of platforms and vertical wind currents. Use the wind currents and platforms to get up to the area above. Once up there you will have to backtrack west slightly. There is a small elevated platform on the south side (just west of the stone ruins). On top of this platform, you should see a couple of trees and bushes and a rock formation. Napopo #6 is on top of the rock formation.
Napopo #7
If you have already found the Broom Trail in the Windy Meadows (South), then finding this statue shouldn’t take too long. This statue is just east of the Broom Trail, trying to hide amongst the flowers.
If you haven’t found the Broom Trail, or haven’t been able to access it yet, I’d suggest going straight from Napopo #6. You can use the height of the part of the mountain that statue #6 is on to fly westward and down to a small landing northeast of Kaila’s home. This Napopo does blend into the flowers a little so be sure not to fly past it.
Check out the image below if you prefer to see the statue locations indicated on the map.
Smoke Factory
The next area we are going to look at is the Smoke Factory. This region only has four Napopo statues, most of which can be found on day one of the game. This region is easy to find as you can spot the smoke cloud from almost every spot on the island. The Smoke Factory is located on the southeastern side of Mount Guan, near the mountain’s base. The Smoke Factory is a fairly small region on the Mount Guan map so all of the statues are located pretty close to each other.
Find all 4 Smoke Factory Napopo locations below.
Napopo #1
For this statue, you’ll want to use the same wind currents you used to get Napopo #6 in the Windy Meadows (South). Use the wind currents to fly up the waterfall at the southern part of the map. Once you’ve gotten onto the platform you’ll want to keep flying north (and slightly east) towards a large rock formation. From here you should be able to see a small blue tent on the platform above. Head to the tent because that is where you’ll find the first Napopo in the Smoke Factory region
Napopo #2
This statue is very close to the first Napopo for this region. From the tent that Napopo #1 is hiding in, if you fly up onto the ridge directly behind the tent, you’ll be able to spot the next statue hiding under a dead tree.
Napopo #3
This statue (and the next one) can be found on the opposite side of the factory. You’ll want to head north, go up the dirt ramp, cross in front of the Smoke Factory and then go down the other dirt ramp. As you’re descending the second ramp you should see a large pond full of gross polluted green water. Sitting on top of a rock in the middle of the pond is Napopo #3 of the Smoke Factory region.
Napopo #4
While you might be able to spot this statue before day three in the game, having the broom boost function will make accessing this statue a lot easier. There’s an elevated platform located north of where you would have found Napopo #3 of this region. On the platform, hiding under another dead tree is the final statue of this area.
Check out the image below if you prefer to see the statue locations indicated on the map.
Farmlands
Before the Patch 1 update there were two locations called Windy Meadows. I had been refering to them as Windy Meadows East and Windy Meadows South. In this Patch the name for Windy Meadows East was changed to Farmlands and will be refered to as such moving forward.
Find all 9 Farmlands Napopo locations below.
Napopo #1
The Farmlands are located on the eastern side of the Mount Guan. It’s the location of an adorable Ostrich Farm (and a side quest for those interested). This is also where the train passes through the mountain. Directly in front of the train tunnel sitting on top of a rock inside the ostrich enclosure you’ll find your first Napopo statue in the Farmlands.
Congratulations, you’re early! I’m still working on the article, so check back soon to see the completed guide!
Conclusion
As I continue my playthrough of Mika and the Witch’s Mountain I will be unlocking more regions and finding more Napopo locations. This guide will be updated with each discovery, so be sure to check back for the latest Napopo location as I continue my adventure.
