How to Unlock Pumbaa in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Pumbaa can be found in the Lion King Realm alongside Timon.

Talking to Simba about Timon and Pumbaa. This activates the first quest to unlock Timon and Pumbaa in this Timon Disney Dreamlight Valley guide.

You’ll need to talk to Simba in your Valley to activate the relevant quest. Simba will express that he misses his old friends and is worried about them. This will activate the Lion King Realm properly. If you go before talking to Simba, Timon and Pumbaa won’t be there. I won’t write anymore about unlocking Pumbaa in this Pumbaa Disney Dreamlight Valley guide – let me explain why:

If you’ve made it here without checking out my Timon Disney Dreamlight Valley guide, I’d suggest you open that in a new tab. You can find a detailed quest guide for how to unlock Pumbaa and Timon there. It seemed silly to repeat myself, so if you need help with the Lion King Realm quests, it’s all laid out for you in Timon’s guide!

Pumbaa’s Friendship Quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley

If you’re looking for Timon’s information, you can find that in Timon’s guide, too. Like this guide, Timon’s has his friendship quest and reward information.

Pumbaa Level 2 Friendship Quest: Something’s Off

In Pumbaa’s Level 2 friendship quest, “Something’s Off”, it looks like our favourite warthog is having some… aromatic concerns.

The start of Pumbaa's level 2 friendship quest.
Pumbaa’s upset! It’s so sad!

After casually strolling into Chez Remy and clearing out the place, Pumbaa’s a bit worried his old gassy past might be repeating itself. It’s up to you to find out why the villagers hightailed it the moment he walked in.

Step 1: Speak to Daisy and Elsa

First, have a chat with Elsa and Daisy to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Elsa will tell you that Pumbaa’s breath is strong — so strong, in fact, that even the cold never bothered her anyway, but this sure did.

Daisy, on the other hand, will mention that Pumbaa and Timon eat like wild animals (no surprises there!), but she’ll drop a hint that it’s more about his “aroma” than anything else.

Talk to Remy. He’ll reveal that Pumbaa’s been on a cheese-only diet, which might explain why he’s not exactly smelling like a field of daisies. It’s time to whip up something a bit more appetising!

Step 2: Cook up better meals

Remy suggests you cook three special meals for Pumbaa to help him out of his cheesy rut:

  • Roasted Asparagus
  • Onion Puffs
  • Minnie’s Gingerbread Cookies

Gather some ingredients and get cooking! You’ll need:

  • Asparagus from Goofy’s stall in Frosted Heights.
  • Canola and Onions from the Forest of Valor and Goofy’s forest stall.
  • Egg and Cheese from Remy’s restaurant.
  • Wheat from Goof’s stall in the Peaceful Meadow.
  • Ginger from the Forgotten Lands.

It’s a bit of a shopping list, but hey — slimy yet satisfying won’t cut it for Pumbaa this time. Once you’ve got everything, serve up the Onion Puffs to see if Pumbaa can handle a little cheese in moderation.

Step 3: Craft a Luxury Mud Bath

Time for a spa day! Your avatar will suggest a Luxury Mud Bath to help with Pumbaa’s… Natural fragrance. To craft it, you’ll need:

  • 8x Soil
  • 10x Sand
  • 12x Dry Wood
  • 15x Stone

Gather everything from around the Valley — dig up soil from grassy areas, collect sand from Dazzle Beach, and pick up Dry Wood from the Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights, or the Forgotten Lands. Stone can be found in any area — just hit the rocks!

Once you’ve got it all, head to the crafting table and whip up that mud bath. Pumbaa will love it!

Step 4: Speak to Villagers about brushing Pumbaa’s teeth

With Pumbaa off enjoying his mud bath, it’s time to take care of his breath.

You’ll need to track down Minnie, Beast, and Sulley for a breath freshener, toothbrush, and toothpaste. After that, grab some Mint from Frosted Heights to give Pumbaa’s breath that extra minty fresh touch.

After a chat between Timon and Pumbaa in Chez Remy, you’ll finish the quest — just in time for Pumbaa to enjoy the finer things in life without clearing the room!

Pumbaa Level 4 Friendship Quest: Fine Arts For Warthogs

In Pumbaa’s Level 4 friendship quest, things take a creative turn! Pumbaa’s looking for a new hobby, and while your suggestions don’t quite hit the mark, he’s inspired by Rafiki’s artistic ways. So, naturally, Pumbaa decides pottery is the way to go. After all, why not make a little clay magic?

Step 1: Prepare for a Pottery Class

If you’ve got the DLC, head over to Rapunzel for some pottery class tips. If not, Minnie’s your go-to for learning how to host this crafty adventure. Once you’ve got their advice, it’s time to gather materials to craft some Pottery Wheels. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2x Tinkering Parts
  • 5x White Marsh Milkweed
  • 7x Red Bell Flower
  • 8x Clay
  • 8x Hardwood

Once you’ve gathered everything, you’ll be able to craft four Pottery Wheels — plenty for your art class with the Pride Rock crew!

Step 2: Get the Gang Together

Pumbaa’s all set to get his hands dirty, but Timon is, well… Timon. He’s not so sure about this whole pottery thing and needs a little convincing. It turns out Timon’s a bit of a perfectionist (who knew?), and he’s worried about messing up. No worries, though — you’ve got the charm to talk him into it!

On the flip side, Nala and Simba are totally on board, no persuasion needed.

Step 3: Pottery Time at Pride Rock

With everyone gathered, it’s time for the pottery class to begin!

Head to Pride Rock and chat with the crew to see what kind of creations they’ve come up with. Pumbaa’s over the moon with everyone’s work and decides that the whole Valley needs to see their masterpieces. And so, an art show is born!

Step 4: The Art Show Setup

Now, this wouldn’t be a Dreamlight Valley quest without Scrooge McDuck getting involved. He’s got the display pillars you need for the art show, but of course, there’s a catch. He wants you to gather a few items for his latest project first. Sigh. Here’s what he’s asking for:

  • 1x Orange & Red Marsh Milkweed
  • 3x White Bell Flower
  • 3x White & Red Hydrangea
  • 3x Citrine
  • 4x Emerald

Of course, Scrooge always asks for gems — like he doesn’t already have enough money! Once you’ve handed over the goods, he’ll give you the display pillars you need.

Step 5: Show Time!

Head back to Pumbaa, who’s absolutely buzzing with excitement for the art show. He’ll pass you all the clay creations, and it’s time to set up! Place the pillars around your Valley and show off everyone’s pottery skills.

After that, talk to Pumbaa again, and he’ll give you your very own Pottery Wheels as a thank-you for making his art show dreams come true!

It’s a little odd that the gang doesn’t stick around to admire their work, but hey — at least Pumbaa’s found his artistic side!

Pumbaa Level 7 Friendship Quest: Down To Earth

In Pumbaa’s Level 7 friendship quest, “Down to Earth,” Pumbaa and Timon are back with a big discovery, thanks to WALL-E’s Astronomy Club! They’ve spotted a giant blue star in the sky, and Merlin’s informed them that this means a meteor shower is coming. This is super special because, according to Pumbaa, it’s the first one since your character was young. Cue the Hakuna Matata vibes for a night to remember!

Step 1: Spread the Word

Pumbaa’s all about making sure no one in the Astronomy Club misses out on this cosmic event. He’s asked for your help to craft four pamphlets to let the club members know about the meteor shower. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 5x Pink Houseleek
  • 8x Red Bromeliad
  • 10x Dry Wood

Once you’ve gathered the materials, craft the pamphlets and hand them out to the club members: WALL-E, Prince Eric, Buzz Lightyear, and Tiana. Make sure everyone’s in the loop!

Step 2: Wait for Nightfall

After delivering the pamphlets, head back to Pumbaa. Merlin’s got a spare telescope for the event, but now you’ll have to wait until it’s naturally nightfall in your Valley (between 6pm and 6am). No sneaky time travelling, though — Disney Dreamlight Valley isn’t too keen on that and it can mess up your game.

When the stars are out, place the telescope and interact with it. A memory will appear, showing one-third of an image. Time to play detective with Pumbaa as he starts to remember the last meteor shower!

Step 3: Find the Meteorite Fragments

The memory reveals a spot on Dazzle Beach, near Skull Rock. Head over there and you’ll spot something on fire—your first Meteorite fragment! Pick it up and unlock the second part of the memory.

Next stop: the Forest of Valor, overlooking the Plaza with a view of the Castle. If you’re struggling to find the exact spot, look near Elsa’s cave. You’ll find another Meteorite fragment in the grass. Pick it up for the final piece of the memory.

The last memory points to the large bone ribs next to Scar’s cave (because of course it’s near Scar). Head over and grab the final fragment.

Step 4: Craft the Meteorite in Glass

Talk to Pumbaa, who’s absolutely buzzing with excitement over the Meteorite fragments. He doesn’t quite realise that Meteorites are usually whole, but no worries — you offer to repair it for him.

Time to head to a crafting table and whip up a Meteorite in Glass! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3x Meteorite Fragments
  • 3x Gold Ingot
  • 12x Glass

Once you’ve got the Meteorite in Glass, it’s time to set up a little showcase in the Valley. Decorate with a rug and six seats, and place the Meteorite in Glass for everyone to admire.

Step 5: The Meteorite Showcase
Now the Astronomy Club can gather for a photo to celebrate this special moment. Enjoy taking a lasting image of the picture-perfect night under the stars.

Finally, listen to Pumbaa and Timon chat about their excitement over the meteorite (even though Timon is certain it couldn’t have come from the sky), and then speak to Pumbaa one last time to finish the quest. As a thank you for all your help, Pumbaa gifts you the Meteorite in Glass to keep!

Pumbaa Level 10 Friendship Quest: The Infestation Part 2

Pumbaa’s Level 10 Friendship Quest, The Infestation Part 2, is where things really heat up in the Night Mite hunt. With Timon leading the charge in Part 1, it’s time for Pumbaa to shine. And you know what they say—when Pumbaa’s on the case, you’re in for an adventure (and maybe a few good bug snacks)!

Step 1: Start with Pumbaa

Kick things off by talking to Pumbaa and letting him know that you and Timon figured out how to get rid of those pesky Night Mite nests. Pumbaa’s thrilled, of course, but there’s more work to do. You’ll need to check the Peaceful Meadow, the Glade of Trust, and Dazzle Beach to destroy 6 Night Mite Nests and find 12 Mega Night Mites across those areas. Grab your bug-catching gear, because it’s hunting time!

Step 2: Report Back to Pumbaa

After you’ve cleared out the nests and snagged all the Mega Night Mites, check back in with Pumbaa. He’s seriously impressed with your skills (you’re basically an honorary warthog at this point). But the job’s not quite done yet—there’s a royal twist!

Step 3: Prince Eric’s Castle

Timon’s been busy brainstorming team names while you were off doing the dirty work, but before you join his creative session, he mentions that Prince Eric has had a Night Mite problem in his castle. Head over there and find the three Night Mites that have snuck inside. While you’re at it, there’s a barrel with purple-black smoke rising off it — interact with it when you’re prompted to “double-check” the the Mites are cleared out.

Step 4: More Night Mites in the Castle

Just when you thought you’d cleared them out, three more Night Mites show up in Prince Eric’s castle. Guess they weren’t ready to leave the party just yet. Round them up and check in with Pumbaa again. Good news—he can’t smell any more Night Mites in the castle (and if anyone knows how to sniff out bugs, it’s Pumbaa). But now he suspects they’ve moved on to some Villagers’ houses.

Step 5: The Villagers Need Help

Next stop: Villagers’ homes! You’ll need to clear out Night Mites from Mike and Sulley’s, Daisy’s, and WALL-E’s places. It seems like no corner of the Valley is safe from these critters. Don’t worry though, you’ve got this—just think of it as your latest hakuna matata mission.

Step 6: The Final Stop

After a quick chat with Pumbaa, he suggests you check in with Timon again. Timon’s found the last of the Night Mites lurking around Jack Skellington’s house. But there’s a problem — Jack says he hasn’t seen any Night Mites at all. Hmm, sounds like someone’s hiding something, doesn’t it?

Look around Jack’s house and you’ll spot a red cloth covering a Night Mite nest near the bookcase. Ah, Jack, you sly skeleton. Clear out the nest and the three Night Mites that come with it.

Step 7: Wrap it Up

Once you’ve finished clearing out the last of the Night Mites, it’s time to check back in with Pumbaa and wrap up the quest. With all the Night Mite nests destroyed and the Valley safe again, you’ve officially earned your place as the Valley’s top bug buster. And don’t forget, there’s one last part of this quest chain — The Infestation Part 3, which you can find in Timon’s guide.
