You know the drill by now! (And if you don’t, then you can check out one of the previous quizzes). It’s all good and well to remember facts from a movie, but how’s your ability to judge its worth? Can you figure out what the experts have to say about a movie? The Success or Mess quizzes don’t require you to know anything about the movie itself. All you need to do is decide whether the critics on Rotten Tomatoes would consider it a success or a mess. This week’s quiz is looking at movies starting with H, and I have to warn you, there are some curveballs in there! Think carefully about your choices, you don’t want to get tripped up.
Now, bear in mind that this is based onĀ the overall percentage from the critics. Audience scores are irrelevant to this quiz, so try to think from the perspective of an expert. The classification for success or mess is:
Over 75 = Success
74 or under = Mess
So, with the rules out of the way, I wish you the best of luck! No cheating!

#1. Hercules (1997)
#2. Home Alone (1990)
Despite it being a Christmas staple for many family traditions, the critics clearly don’t view it as favourably.
#3. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
In my opinion, this isn’t a good movie, and is an insult to the book, but I guess the critics either don’t mind about creative integrity, or just haven’t read the books.
#4. Hannibal (2001)
Admittedly I’ve never actually seen this movie, but I’m surprised it was rated so low (40%). I’d only ever heard good things about it.
#5. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
It’s tough for a rom-com to do well on Rotten Tomatoes, and this was no exception.
#6. He's Just Not That Into You (2009)
This is legitimately my favourite rom-com, and it deserved better!
#7. Home (2015)
#8. Hairspray (2007)
#9. How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
I love this movie, so I was glad to see that it was a well-deserved success.
#10. Hot Fuzz (2007)
If you think this masterpiece of a movie is a mess, then there’s really no accounting for taste.
Well, how did you do? Did you boss it like a pro, or did you get stumped by these movies starting with H? As always, you can count it as a job well done if you managed to score 7 or more. If you scored 6 or less, then hey, there’s always next time. Like I said, there were some unexpected scores in there, so there’s no shame in getting some wrong. If anything, I actually think better of your taste in films if you did make a few mistakes. The critics aren’t always right. I am, though, but not everyone can be as right as me.
